Learning Objectives Students will be able to identify internal character traits and find supporting evidence for conclusions about character traits.
Introduction (10 minutes)
Tell the students that they are going to be comparing Mickey Mouse to Ironman.
Place students into small groups.
Show them pictures of the two characters and have them discuss how they are alike and different for five minutes.
Beginning
Provide a student-friendly definition of the word "compare" in addition to showing visuals.
Pre-teach the words "alike" and "different" using a Frayer Model.
Group students intentionally and allow students to talk in their home language (L1).
Intermediate
Show students a short video of each character so that they can become familiar with them.
Allow students to use sentence stems during the group discussion (i.e., "Ironman and Mickey Mouse are alike because they both...").
