Learning Objectives

  • After heating and cooling a volume of air, students will understand that particles of air are always around us, too small to be seen in most cases.
  • Students will know that air particles expand when heated and contract when they are cooled.

Introduction

(5 minutes)
  • Ask students to write the following title in their journals: What is a gas?
  • Allow students 5-7 minutes to respond in writing to the prompt.
