Activity

Animal Movement

What You Need:

What You Do:

  1. Cut out the animal cards and place them in a stack face down.
  2. Alternatively, you may use the animal dice in place of the animal cards!
  3. Ask your child if they want to imitate the movement and sound of each animal or just the movement.
  4. Decide who will go first, then have that person choose a card from the stack of cards (or roll the die). The player choosing the card will model how to act out the movement of the animal, then all players will copy the movement.
  5. Continue to play until all the cards have been used up.
  6. Extend the game by creating your own cards to add to the stack. Challenge your child to write (or have younger children dictate) details about the movement or animal (e.g., a snake slithers).
