Newton's First Law of Motion

Newton's First Law of Motion

Show what you know about Isaac Newton’s First Law of Motion with this matching activity!  Designed for middle school learners, this one-page science worksheet challenges students to match each of eight vocabulary terms to its definition by writing the corresponding letter on the line. Young scientists will need to use their understanding of three key physical science concepts: motion results from unbalanced forces, inertia resists changes in motion, and Newton’s First Law describes inertia. As an added challenge, students are then asked to use the concepts and vocabulary terms to explain what happens when you are riding in a car that comes to a sudden stop.
