Students will love becoming alphabet experts as they identify words that begin with the short A sound and create their very own A word posters for their classroom walls!

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to write and recognize words that begin with the short A sound.

Introduction

(5 minutes)

Hold up an object that starts with the letter A.
Ask students if they know what the object is called. Then, have them say the word aloud as a group or call on a student to share.
Tell the students that the word (e.g., Abacus) starts with the letter A. Today students will be thinking all about the letter A.
