EL adjustments

Introduction

(5 minutes)
  • Divide the class into even teams in an outside area or gym.
  • Give each team a die.

Beginning

  • Review the number names from 1-6. Flash the dot pattern as it appears on the die for each number. Tell students to show you that many fingers, and call out the number name chorally.

Intermediate

  • Teach students that the word die is a homonym, a word that sounds the same but means different things. The word die can mean to pass away. Another meaning of die is the singular form of dice which students will use to play the game. Point to the die.
